Examination by an officer of the OSB
Step 6: You attend an examination by an officer at the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada (OSB), if required.
After filing for bankruptcy you may be examined under oath by a representative of the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada (OSB). The purpose of the examination is to question you, the bankrupt, with respect to your conduct, the causes of the bankruptcy and the disposition of your property.
During this meeting Canadian Government workers review your case to determine if you qualify for a discharge. You attend an examination conducted by an OSB officer. The officer questions you on how you managed your finances. They also ask the reason for your bankruptcy and how the property is being handled to pay off debts.
