0033 - Debt Related Queston: Bankruptcy Question # 0033
If I declare bankruptcy will my name be published in the newspaper where everyone can see? Will my employer be notified?
The only time a debtor’s name is published in the newspaper is under an “Ordinary” administration of a bankruptcy. This means that the debtor has more than $10,000 in assets and the trustee is required by law to post an ad in the newspaper, advising all the creditors of a required Meeting of Creditors. There is no reason for your employer to find out that you have declared bankruptcy unless you tell them.
